Rendering originated as a primitive disposal technique to the current state of the art processing technologies that we have today.
Two thousand years ago, Celtic tribesmen boiled animal fats, mixing them with ash to produce a magical cleansing compound – soap. Until the 1800s, however, soap was a luxury item, and tallow was used mostly to make candles.
The Industrial Revolution changed everything: people moved to the cities and produced fewer of their own foods and household goods; at the same time, meat-processing plants multiplied. But until the advent of the modern rendering industry, most animal waste were left to rot, creating serious health and sanitation problems.
Rendering has solved the dilemma and also turned discarded wastes into useful products. Over the years, rendering has evolved from a hot, odorous labour-intensive trade into a modern, highly automated industry.
Superior finished products depend on the timely collection and processing of raw materials. Our vehicles are custom designed to collect bones, fat, offals, fallen stock, feathers and blood. Prompt and hygienic service to the supplier is the essential first step in a first class rendering operation.
Advanced Proteins have six dedicated continuous processing lines, all operated through highly efficient plc controlled systems. This investment allows us to reliably produce high quality products with the least amount of energy consumed compared to most other plants today.
All raw materials are processed in accordance with our robust Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) which is the backbone of our organisation to produce high quality products.
